Out of the Ashes of the old Anglian TV studios EPIC (East of England Production Innovation Centre) has risen like a phoenix to become not only a major broadcasting hub in Norfolk but a rival to traditional studios throughout Europe. With the financial backing of Norfolk County Council and the East of England development agency, EPIC has converted the old TV studios and installed a state of the art HD workflow solution to enable resident clients, visiting production companies and local universities to work with the very latest broadcast equipment in custom designed studios.
The requirement was for an Ethernet based SAN to provide two classrooms of 52 MacPros running Final Cut Pro and Logic. This would act as an independent system separating commercial work and the courses that Norwich University were offering on the classroom Macs.
The solution needed to be high performance to facilitate the amount of edit suites, yet cost effective and scalable enough to future proof the facility and provide protected central storage.
Mark Wells, a director of the company, approached one of our UK resellers to provide a turnkey solution to the requirements he had stipulated and to integrate this within EPIC’s facility with the minimum of disruption within a relatively small window between scholastic Terms.
Above all other solutions Space stood head and shoulders above the competition; it was able to tick all the boxes and come in under budget giving Mark the features and flexibility he was looking for at a price he could afford.
Mark commented ‘Any facility that uses two or more edit suites should be considering the benefits and cost effectiveness of a system that allows creative people to work together and share their assets. Space offers all the benefits without the cost and complication of many other SAN products.’
