GB Labs Launches new NVMe storage solutions: Delivering Unparalleled Performance, Flexibility and Efficiency
READING, UK - 24th NOVEMBER 2025 – GB Labs is excited to announce the launch of SPACE NVME and SPACE NVME Plus, its latest all-NVMe storage solutions designed to deliver unparalleled performance, flexibility, and efficiency to media professionals, at an unprecedented price point.
SPACE NVME is a high-performance 1U NAS featuring 8 NVMe drives, delivering up to 10 GB/s throughput to the network. It comes equipped with dual 100GbE connectivity as standard, with the flexibility to expand network I/O as needed.
SPACE NVME Plus steps up to a 2U chassis with 20 NVMe drives, achieving a remarkable 30 GB/s of network performance. It features dual 200GbE networking and supports capacities up to 1.2 petabyte - all within just 2U of rack space.
SPACE NVME HDD EX – cost effective hybrid expansion for the SPACE NVME range, expanding from 64TB to over 4PB.
This exceptional storage density allows customers to achieve extraordinary capacity and throughput without consuming excessive rack space. Additionally, the solid-state design and compact form factor contribute to exceptional energy efficiency, resulting in significant savings on power and cooling costs. These systems are not only faster but also smarter investments for long-term operation.
A standout feature of the SPACE NVMe range is its expandability with spinning disks - a rarity in NVMe storage solutions. Traditionally, expanding NVMe systems is complex due to their substantial demands on processor resources, often requiring intricate clustering systems or being entirely unfeasible. GB Labs has innovatively addressed this by enabling customers to seamlessly integrate additional storage using the SPACE NVMe EX—a dual-path SAS HDD expander. This solution significantly increases storage capacity at a reduced cost while maintaining high performance.
This hybrid approach builds upon the previous success of GB Labs' HyperSPACE technology, intelligently combining the high-speed performance of NVMe SSDs with the vast capacity of HDDs. In many scenarios, this synergy not only maintains but enhances overall system performance. NVMe drives handle the majority of read operations, delivering rapid data access, while HDDs efficiently manage write operations. This division of labor ensures that adding spinning disks does not compromise speed; instead, it optimizes the system's efficiency and throughput.
The NVMe systems offers remarkable flexibility: customers can allocate a portion of their NVMe capacity—for example, 20%—to act as the read tier for HDD-based volumes, while keeping the remaining 80% as a pure NVMe volume. Alternatively, the entire NVMe system can be dedicated to accelerating one or many HDD volumes if required. This dynamic allocation allows organizations to scale their storage infrastructure according to their specific performance and capacity requirements, providing a cost-effective and efficient solution for managing large volumes of data.
Pricing for the SPACE NVMe series starts from approximately $333 per terabyte for configurations utilizing pure NVMe storage. However, when expanded with spinning disks in a hybrid setup, the cost per terabyte is significantly reduced, offering an even more economical solution without compromising on performance.
Both SPACE NVMe systems ship with GB Labs’ brand-new CORE OS 5.5, built on its new kernel designed to enhance system efficiency, performance, and security.
CORE OS 5.5 introduces several key features:
• Dynamic Bandwidth Control: Offers granular, real-time allocation of bandwidth across users and tasks, ensuring consistent performance even in demanding environments.
• Mosaic: An intelligent asset tracking tool that provides a dynamic and enriched way to locate media assets quickly, saving users significant time.
• Automation: A hot folder and watch folder system enabling basic orchestration, streamlining workflows by automating routine tasks.
• Comprehensive Auditing: Built-in auditing features enhance security and compliance, providing detailed logs and insights into system activity.
Additionally, COREOS 5.5 ensures full compatibility with GB Labs’ Unify Hub, facilitating seamless integration of remote and hybrid users, and offers tight integration with NebulaNAS for scalable cloud workflows. The system also supports broad compatibility with leading third-party cloud services.
“There are very few true NVMe NAS products on the market,” said Dominic Harland, CEO at GB Labs. “And almost none are within reach of real-world production teams. SPACE NVMe changes that. You’re getting extreme performance, scalability, and stability, with the same intelligent software stack GB Labs is known for, at a fraction of the cost.”
Both SPACE NVME and SPACE NVME Plus are engineered for the most demanding environments, whether you're working with high-resolution media, complex visual effects, or AI-accelerated production pipelines.
