GB Labs to release brand new AI software - Telescope

Telescope is deep learning, AI object recognition software that can be trained to find specific objects within media and film clips; not only making it easier for users to find the exact footage that they’re looking for but also potentially trigger automated tasks based on findings.

GB Labs’ noticed that although there were companies who had some form of Artificial Intelligence from image vs. image recognition, to up scaling or downscaling on the fly and from the range of AI on the market, there was nothing suitable that really helped the professional user. Typically, users would have a difficult and time-consuming process of encoding, uploading and downloading content.

Existing solutions are very much driven by consumer interest for things like product placement. For example, consumers may want to find a logo; however, in a professional market, users may want to find their logo that’s shown next to a star football player at a game; as well as the ability to search by multiple objects in the frame at any one time.

Telescope, which is completely scalable and can run in real-time across one or many streams; can be trained on real objects and even groups of objects so it will pull the search together all at once, rather than one thing at a time. When training Telescope, users will have a simple and straight forward experience. The end result is not only that users will own their data set, but they will then be able to search images, videos and stills, in order to find, down to the smallest detail, the exact piece of footage that they’re looking for; saving a lot of time and cost.

In addition to this, once you have pre-trained Telescope on the items you may want to search for and selected a specific object to find. For example; a logo, Telescope will find the clips with a confidence level of 0%-100% certainty that the object the user’s looking for can be found in that location.

GB Labs mark two years of FastNAS by introducing FastNAS NitroMAX

GB Labs will be building on the success over the last two years of their FastNAS series by launching a brand-new product, FastNAS NitroMAX.

The intelligent storage company, who provide a comprehensive range of online, near line, backup and archive solutions for Media and Entertainment workflows, are excited to be announcing their latest product for their FastNAS range, FastNAS NitroMAX at IBC this September.

Marking two years since the launch of FastNAS, NitroMAX offers double the NVME acceleration layer in order to expedite more data simultaneously; now with 40GbE as standard for faster and more flexible connectivity.

Bringing, twice the capacity and twice the performance to the Nitro layer along with 40GbE as standard the new FastNAS NitroMAX is capable of up to 4GB/s read performance from its combined NVME and HDD technologies. However, it really wins in the real world with its ability to deliver around 2GB/s of read performance from its 1TB of NVMe accelerator whilst simultaneously allowing the spinning disks to accept over 2GB/s of write performance.

This is made possible using GB Labs’ unique technologies and intelligent algorithms for maximising real world missed IO data application. The end result means that users are gaining far more read streams whilst writing new data, supporting today’s modern, mixed environment workflows compared to existing shared storage technologies.

GB Labs reveal advanced media storage solution for dft

GB Labs, innovators of powerful and intelligent media storage solutions for the Media & Entertainment industry, has worked closely with Digital Film Technology (dft) to develop an alternative storage solution to the traditional Storage Area Network (SAN) solution. SPACE SSD, the latest Network Attached Storage (NAS) solution means that there is now, for the first time, a viable media storage alternative for Digital Film Technology’s flagship film scanner, Scanity HDR.

dft has been at the forefront of film scanning technology for over 75 years providing solutions for film post-production, archive and restoration market range of high quality, leading-edge products and services. Scanning from film to modern file formats, puts media storage through its paces. dft’s Scanity HDR film scanner can deliver huge 16-bit file sizes in either 4K TIFF or DPX while scanning, which means that consistent and extreme performance is required to ensure files are ingested without corruption or delay. SPACE SSD has been developed, tested and certified for use with Scanity HDR. Capable of speeds of up to 9GB/s means that it is more than enough to ensure Scanity HDR runs at its optimum performance.

If additional capacity or performance for a project is required, SPACE SSD is easily expandable, and its compact footprint means that it can also be housed within the Scanity HDR casing – providing a turnkey solution from dft. Film scanning requires powerful media storage, which was traditionally achieved using Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions.

GB Labs to introduce failover option in SPACE range at IBC 2018

GB Labs will be releasing their latest CloakDR software for SPACE, SPACE SSD and ECHO (36 Bay); designed for complete disaster recovery.

The intelligent storage company, who provide a comprehensive range of online, near line, backup and archive solutions for Media and Entertainment workflows; is excited to be announcing their latest failover feature, CloakDR, for SPACE, SPACE SSD and ECHO (36 Bay) solutions at IBC this September.

Developed by GB Labs, CloakDR allows customers to benefit from a truly redundant storage solution that defines disaster recovery planning. It ensures that if the primary storage becomes unavailable, the other will kick in and take over.

It has been designed to not only protect against typical server failures, such as: disk, OS or PSU failure, but the bigger issues too, including: rack power outage, accidental removal of network or power cabling, switch failures and even a complete server room outage, with systems placed in separate server rooms.

Additionally, separate buildings could be used to house each storage unit, in order to give protection against fire and flood damage. With a fast and seamless failover, it minimises any disruption to user’s workflow and maximises peace of mind.
